Game Reviews – The Chronicles of Riddick : Assault on Dark Athena and Sacred 2: Fallen Angel
May 18th
First off I want to thank the fine folks at RocketXL for giving me the opportunity to review these games. Â They sent the review copies and the process has been going really smoothly. Â They've also been hard-at-work providing assets for the two games I'm going to review, so if you're a gamer like me I have to highly encourage you to check them out!
We'll start with Dark Athena. Â Using the widget below you'll be able to browse some screenshots from the game and see some video of the gameplay to get an idea of the look and feel.
Next up is Sacred 2: Fallen Angel. Â It's an exciting cooperative hack-and-slash game that I can't wait to delve into with my buddies online. Â Thanks again to Romeo at RocketXL for giving me access to the videos below:
Sacred 2 - Making Of... Part 2
Sacred 2 - Making Of... Part3
Sacred 2 has officially gone gold as well, so there's a lot of anticipation for the title. Look for my review of both games coming as soon as I can finish them!
My most anticipated title of the year is…
Mar 1st
...a remake of a 7 year old game that will probably be nothing more than a budget arcade title to most. That's right, Battlefield 1943 is a game I've been calling for since Battlefield 2142 came out. Its developer, DICE, has put out Battlefield games in pretty much every era possible. World War 2, Vietnam, the modern era with Battlefield 2 and even the future with 2142. So, what's left? Time to start all over!
Battlefield 1942 was easily my favorite game of the series. It might have something to do with the newness of the game at the time, but being able to get a huge (relatively speaking) group of people on a map with separate character classes and vehicles was extremely fun. I liked all of the games that followed but I'm most partial to the WW2-era arsenal, and since the guns and vehicles are the most important part of the game that means quite a bit.
The new game is titled Battlefield 1943 and is under development in the Frostbite engine. It'll launch for PC, Xbox Live Arcade and PSN. I'm almost certain I'll stick with the PC version though. Here's the trailer:
Need a one-time use chatroom?
Feb 17th
Well do I have the product for you! Actually props for this go to Amber MacArthur who tweeted about it. TinyChat is a site that lets you setup a one-time use chatroom. It gives your chatroom a unique link identifier (similar to what TinyURL or any link-shortening site does for your links) that you can share around. Users can either join in using a new username or by logging in with their Twitter credentials which is pretty cool. Once you've logged in you get...as you would expect...a nice small chatroom for you and your friends to communicate in.
You can also do the standard fare for chatrooms, private messaging and the like. The only thing I don't know is how long it lasts, I'm assuming that once the final person leaves your chatroom gets closed. It would be cool if you could save the chatroom and return to it later, that way I could have a constant chat going for this blog or something, but either way I've created one and will stay in it for a bit if you happen to see this post. Just go to:
and say hello!
My Wordle.net word cloud
Aug 6th
A proper post is coming tomorrow but I thought this was pretty cool. Â At wordle.net you can input a URL (I used the address of my blog) and it outputs a fancy word cloud based on the site's content. Â You can do the same thing just by copy/pasting some text in. Â (click the image for a full, legible version)

I think that pretty much sums it all up. =)
This is my second post…
Jul 3rd
This is my second post from Jott, the first one was broken so I thought I give it a second try, let's see if it works. Thanks for reading.

***Edit***
Okay so, the above text was brought to you by Jott obviously. I had to do two posts since the first one didn't turn out so well, but as you can see the only problem with this one is that it should say "I thought I'd" instead of "I thought I." Everything else is dead on.
I also wanted to send out an early happy 4th of July to anyone reading since I won't be putting up a post tomorrow!
New addition to the blogroll…
